Migration of Services

At the conclusion of fall 2007 semester, the College of Urban Affairs will begin to migrate some services to CSU's department of Information Services and Technology (IS&T) and Instructional Media Services (IMS). Below is a summary of the migrations that will take place and documentation for users.

:: Computer Labs UR 39 & UR 40
Computer labs will maintain current hours through the end of fall semester (December 14). During the week of December 17 through December 21, the labs will be available to students from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The labs will close December 22 and reopen under IS&T the first day of spring 2008 semester (Saturday, January 12, 2008). At that time, students will use their CampusNet ID and password to login to the computer labs. The labs will also be open to other CSU students. All existing software (including specialized software such as GIS) will remain. Instructors can request lab space using the WebEvent calendar. This link is also available from any urban web page, under "Levin College Links".

:: Help Desk & Desktop Support
Effective December 17, the College of Urban Affairs' help desk will no longer be available. Students, faculty, and staff with technology-related issues including desktop support, printing, email, BlackBoard, software issues, etc. should call CSU's IS&T call center at 216.687.5050 or email call.center@csuohio.edu. See the IS&T website, http://www.csuohio.edu/ist/needhelp.shtml.

:: Equipment Requests
Effective December 17, all equipment requests for the College of Urban Affairs should be requested through CSU's Instructional Media Services (IMS). Equipment requests must be phoned in to IMS at 216.687.3846. Equipment can be picked up and returned to the IMS office in BU 18. See the IMS website at http://www.ulib.csuohio.edu/ims/equipment.html for more details. The College will continue to provide services for atrium equipment requests/events. To request atrium services, see the atrium technology requst page. In addition, we will also maintain a limited amount of equipment for short-term, out-of-building use (conferences, off-site presentations, etc.). Please use the out of building equipment request form.

:: Email
Effective immediately Urban Email users can begin migrating their Email to the University's Email system. Users will need to be using the University Email system and have their stored Email moved by January 11, 2008. Instructions on how to configure Mozilla/Seamonkey and Thunderbird to access the University system are available. A separate document outlines how to move stored Email folders from the Urban system to the University system. A collection of frequently asked questions has also been created.

:: Domain Migration/Access to File storage dirves and shared drives
IS&T will begin to migrate users from the CUACS domain to the CSUNet domain after the end of fall semester. This will involve a visit to each machine by IS&T. Once on CSUNet, users will use their CSU login (CampusNet ID and password) to login to their machines. Users will still be able to access their home directories (currently "h" drives) and shared drives, however, the method for doing so will change. Watch for further information and instructions coming soon.
