NODIS is a leader in GIS and provides spatial data analysis, mapping and programming services.
Three NODIS staff members, Dr. Mark Salling, Jim Wyles and Ellen Cyran, have recently received certification as GIS Professionals. This is a new national program to recognize the growing professional expertise in the GIS technology field. The GIS Certification Institute ( http://www.gisci.org ) has been awarding certification for a little over a year. Certification is based on credentials in three areas: 1) educational achievement, 2) professional experience, and 3) contribution to the profession.
NODIS frequently works on mapping projects from both the private and public sector. Recent
project examples include:
-
Trained engineering consulting firm employees and aided in the development
of an environmental dataase for building site location analysis.

The consortium, the "Greater Cleveland Geographic Information Network" or
GC-GIN, undertook a needs assessment, developed a technical and organizational
implementation strategy, and is currently implementing that strategy.
