About the Program

What is succession planning? It is thinking in advance about how to set the stage for a successful transition of leadership in an organization to ensure the continuity of mission and values. It is linked to organizational strategy and decision-making.

Patrick Corvington, Senior Associate, Leadership Development, Annie E. Casey Foundation will share the findings of a recent study which found that about half of Cleveland area nonprofits are likely to face an increase in the number of executive transitions over the next several years. A panel of local experts will address what this means for Cleveland area nonprofits, how we can prepare for this transition and what resources are available to assist with this planning.

In addition, a two-part, interactive workshop on how to begin to prepare a succession plan for your organization will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 and Wednesday, January 11, 2006 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. For more information contact Susan Freimark at 216/687-6895 or visit http://urban.csuohio.edu/nonprofit/.
