Photographer and writer Steve Cagan's new exhibit features the rain forest area of El Chocó, Columbia and the special river-based Afro-Columbian and indigenous cultures there. it documents the communities' resistance to threats to their forest and their cultures from the violence of the civil war and pressures of rapidly expanding lumbering and mining.

The Exhibit runs from February 1 to March 31, 2009. Gallery hours are 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday.
Steve Cagan has exhibited his photographs locally, nationally and internationally. His reviews and critical writings have been published in a variety of journals and books. He has received Fullbright Fellowships to support his teaching and photography in El Salvador and Columbia.
